As I said in the last post, Jo's "SEAMS like fun....`book has already inspired me for this week`s BAS Challenge stitch. While looking at Jo`s book, I was especially fascinated by a couple of seam treatments that had little boxes in them - what fun! I got the good old reading glasses out and had another look and realized that the boxes were created by making two rows of cretan stitch, one above the other.
So, by way of a bit of an explanation, here is the seam being worked up. You might have to enlarge it to see, but when you do you will see I have stitched the top row of cretan stitch completely and am about halfway along the second row. I did this so you can see that, yes, it is cretan stitch, and then see how the second row creates the little boxes. How much fun will we have with this! I also left the tiger tape on so you can see how I most often use it - I apply it just above my stitching to help me eye up the size of the stitches. In this case, I have taken a pen and marked on the tape the spacing I want to use, and yet I have still managed to mess some up! If you are wondering, I left the thread card in the photo in case you were curious about which thread I had used for this!
