Basket of Pansies

I have been working on a little six inch block of Leslie's and was excited to find what I thought were boullion pansies in one of my books. On closer look though, they were made with a cast-on buttonhole stitch so had to learn that one! lol I made a little woven basket for them with boullions for the top rim and handle (which have both pretty well disappeared under the flowers) and then wove the bottom of the basket. All that was in two strands of DMC. Then I made the pansies in an assortment of colours also with two strands of DMC and little seed beads for their centers. Since I love pansies I really enjoyed making this!

Kerry: Why did I never think of making pansies with the cast on stitch. WOW! I love pansies - well 2nd to Hydrangeas. Might you share what book you saw these in?

BAS - Week 79 - Feather Stitch Variations

I have about the next twenty BAS stitches scheduled and by happy coincidence this week's BAS is a series of Feather Stitch variations which coincide with this week's TAST stitch if you are following. So, we can hit two birds with one stone! These hardly look like feather stitch but they are. They are created by making the "v"'s of the feather stitch vertical on the inside. Very simple to do but a different look to an old stitch. The second variation is created by doing two feather stitches at a time on each side, again making sure the inside of your "v"s are vertical and line up as much as possible. Same thing again in this one except they are in series of three. To me these have the look of stitching on old crazy quilts so they are nice to add to your stable of stitch variations.
