It was pretty exciting this last week to have my quilt top come home completed from the Row by Row robin. As you can see it turned out beautifully! All of the leaves are pieced in batiks. I think I may add another row in length and width to make it large enough for this bed which is a king size. I am very happy with how it turned out. Many thanks to all the ladies who were involved in this Row Robin with me! This is the last of the quilt tops I got to work on in the Row Robin. This one is a patriotic modified four patch and belongs to Cathy. It was fun to work on and a bit of a relief after some of the more challenging blocks that have been in this row robin. I think it turned out really nicely though! It is in the mail on its way home to Cathy now. The block lottery for February was an hourglass block - these above are the ones I did for the draw. The lucky winner of this lottery will be receiving 41 blocks in the mail - that should b e enough to make a great quilt! Lots of fun and...

I have been battling a flu this last week or so (and losing badly! lol). As a result I haven't felt much like doing anything in the line of housework, etc., so I have been doing a bit of "sane quilting" instead. These six blocks are in a pattern from Quilter's Cache called Bear Tracks . The little claw bits drove me crazy but it was my own fault. This was for a block lottery at the Mailblocks Yahoo group and I got to choose the block for January. These bear tracks are all done in plaids and I thought it would be a great quilt. Why did I get to choose the block for January? Because I won the December lottery! I am waiting for all the blocks to arrive in the mail for that lottery before I post pictures of them. These bear tracks are in the mail on their way to Melanie - the lucky winner for January.

The Mailblocks group on Yahoo has monthly quilt block lotteries. Everyone makes 5 or so blocks in a specified pattern and colours and then a name is drawn from everyone who made blocks and they are all sent to the lucky winner. I resolved not to put my name in any month until I had the blocks completed. Don't need any more unfinished projects hanging over my head! So, for October the pattern chosen was Jacob's Ladder and the colours are blue and cream. I have just finished my blocks so can now allow myself to run over and put my name in the draw! This is all part and parcel of my wanting to learn to make "sane" quilts. Each month I take part gives me a bit more practice on making blocks. I am quite pleased with how these turned out - they are more complicated than I would have chosen so were a challenge. I am pleased though that I managed to match most of the points - I'm starting to see an improvement!
