Just wanted to share a project I finished up this week. This is a cushion I made for my in-laws as one of their Christmas presents. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. I took one of their original wedding photos and printed it out onto fabric and sewed it onto the cushion cover. Then I embellished it with lots of lace and trims and a few beads and charms. I chose the white and off-white laces to further the bridal theme of the photo. I had this made up awhile ahead of time but noticed it had picked up some dust and surface dirt so decided to gently handwash the cushion cover. I had used some pretty old transfer fabric and was horrified to see most of the transferred photo disappear! Luckily I still had enough time to print it the photo out again on some fresh transfer fabric, wash it before I stitched it onto the cushion and replaced all the embellishments. I really hope they will like this. It is difficult to make out the details in the photograph here because of the white on white theme but if you click on it to enlarge it you can see it better.
I am very happy to be joining in the Giveaway Day through Sew, Momma, Sew . I have chosen to share one of my finds from a shopping trip, or treasure hunts as I think of them. This is an antique sewing box - I could not resist it when I saw it for sale! Were you able to guess the item from the sneak peek earlier in the week? The box itself is fairly small, 8 inchs X 6 inchs and 4 inches high (20 cm X 15 cm and 10 cm high). From my research it is of Asian origin. Inside the sewing box is lined with hand-painted silk. The inside of the lid features a neat little needlebook. In the bottom of the sewing box there are more beautiful hand-painted blossoms and an attached pincushion. I hope you are as charmed by this little box as I was when I found it and that you will enter my giveaway. I will be pleased to mail internationally so everyone is invited to enter. To enter, visit my Etsy shop and then come back and leave me a comment telling me which item you like best. Feel fr
