A Tip to Share!


I have a tip to share with all you other stitchers.  I discovered this quite by accident and was a little excited about it!  lol  I bought a set of the Glade Scented Oil Candles in the photo above.  They have a glass holder and the candles sit in it and burn away while scenting the room with yummy fragrance.  After the candles were used, I held onto the holder thinking I might use it for the base of a pincushion.  Instead, I discovered that it is very handy for putting a few beads in while you are working with them.  And, an added bonus, since the candles are held in place by a magnet on the center metal portion of the bowl of the holder - it is perfect for your needles and pins while you are working on something.


Isn't that clever?  lol

I love BOTH the ideas... I think I'll use the pincushion idea and design up some speical designs just for them.. LOL then I'll CQ some as well for gifts...and have empty ones for just the purchase you've found.. thanks soo much for sharing!

Good idea, Kerry. I hold on to junk like that too and now have piles of junk.

For beads I use a margarine tub lid. It has a rim on it so beads don't spill unless I wiggle around and forget I have it on my lap or scratch an itch - I have poison ivy right now. And, when I am done with that particular bead the lid bends or is flexible enough to funnel the beads back into their proper container.

That is a really cool idea -- I even have one of those sitting on a shelf in my studio and now I have another use for it!

What a great Idea for reusing those bases. I love those candles. Now I need one just to turn it into a bead holder, which I have been needing something for beads while I work on them

BAS - Week 81 - Sequin Flower with Tutorial

This Build a Seam (BAS) Challenge is a little different - not exactly a stitch per se.  It is a technique for making sequin flowers which can be a wonderful addition to a seam treatment or motif. You will need cupped sequins for this - flat ones will not work properly - and some seed beads.  Mark your fabric with a center dot and five evenly spaced dots around the outside.  Bring your needle up through one of the dots on the outside and string on one sequin (cup upwards), a bead, another sequin and two more beads.  Take your needle down through the middle dot.  Carry on making another leg in the same way on each of the other four outside dots, always going down into the center dot which will be the middle of your flower. This is what you end up with after you have done all five legs - a nice little sequin flower!  You can add a bead or two more in the center of the flower if you wish.  You can also vary the number of legs depending on the size of t...

Giveaway!

I am feeling like celebrating for various reasons! Firstly, this is my 100th post on my blog and that seems worthy of a little celebration. Secondly, I can now count the days on this year's camping season on my fingers!
