New Thread & Old Cats

Yesterday I made an excursion to Calgary to buy some balls of Valdani Pearl Cottom #8.  Since I love varigated threads I can't resist this beautiful stuff made in Romania.  I have only found one store in Calgary that carries it so it is a big deal to make the trip (over an hour drive each way) and treat myself.  Isn't it beautiful? - perfect for seam treatments! 

I bought thirteen balls and I guess I should have realized that wasn`t a lucky number - you may note there are only 11 balls in the photo.  I`m not sure what the mathematical equation would be.... 7 cats + 13 threads = 11 threads?  Well, you can guess what I woke up to this morning.  Below you will see a few photos of that.






I could have taken lots more photos - thread wrapped around the piano legs and bench, around the table legs, over and under everything on the table, etc. 

Repeating my mantra:  I love my cats, I love my cats, I love my cats....  Do I sound convinced yet?  lol

First off that is some GORGEOUS thread!!!! Variegated is so beautiful.

I am sorry about the cats late night treat!

Was any of the thread unraveled salvageable?

Oh dear, how awful. There must be lengths inbetween that you can save. If it's too much work, stuff it into a bag and we'll all help sort it out in September!
As a consolation nibble on some of those chocolately things in the post below!

Oh Kerry, I laughed out loud picturing your face when you first saw this. But I'll admit, I'd be wondering if I loved my cats THAT much if it was me!
Did you ever see the old Disney movie "The Ugly Dachshund"? It's about a Great Dane raised with some dachsies, and the trouble those little weiners make for him. They do this sort of thing with yarn. Funny, if it isn't happening to YOUR threads!

Oh Lord, that reminds me so much of my kitty. She always "helped" with any needlework I was doing. It's been 12 years and I miss her still.

I must thank you!! I laughed out loud. I am suffering from a very itchy rash, (for months) and yesterday had a minor breakdown. I love kitties. I am so sorry for your loss, and hope you can salvage much of your beautiful threads. But, I loved this and thank you again for sharing. I really needed to laugh.

BAS - Week 73 - Raised Fishbone Leaves (and Tutorial)

It took me a little while to get this one ready - lots of photos in the tutorial.  This Build a Seam (BAS) Challenge is for Raised Fishbone Stitch leaves.  With a little practice you will get much better results than I did - this was my first attempt on these as well.  For some reason I have basically avoided fishbone stitch but no time like the present to learn!  I hope you enjoy this BAS Challenge! Begin by marking your leaves on your fabric.  You will find it handy to have an outline to follow while stitching.  I used a mechanical pencil to lightly mark mine - hopefully not so lightly you can`t see them! To begin, bring your needle up at the point of the leaf and take it down again about halfway down on the center vein. Now come up again directly to the left of that, on the outside edge of the leaf. Take your needle down again just barely to the right and down from the top leaf point. And bring it up again just barely to the left and down of the point...

Giveaway!

I am feeling like celebrating for various reasons! Firstly, this is my 100th post on my blog and that seems worthy of a little celebration. Secondly, I can now count the days on this year's camping season on my fingers!
