Christmas Ornament for Todd & Melissa

Soon after returning home from the CQI retreat this year, Debbie in Maine's family suffered a tragedy when the home of her son, Todd, and daughter-in-law, Melissa, was struck down by fire. They lost everything in the fire, including the lives of their two beloved dogs.

The ladies at CQI are making Christmas ornaments and sending them to Todd & Melissa to cheer up their Christmas and let them know we are thinking of them in these difficult times. This is the little ornament which I have just finished for them. I really enjoyed making this little stocking and played around with new seam treatments. I hope they enjoy it!

Giveaway Day! (CLOSED)

This is an antique sewing box - I could not resist it when I saw it for sale! Were you able to guess the item from the sneak peek earlier in the week? The box itself is fairly small, 8 inchs X 6 inchs and 4 inches high (20 cm X 15 cm and 10 cm high). From my research it is of Asian origin. Inside the sewing box is lined with hand-painted silk. The inside of the lid features a neat little needlebook. In the bottom of the sewing box there are more beautiful hand-painted blossoms and an attached pincushion. Giveaway!

I am feeling like celebrating for various reasons! Firstly, this is my 100th post on my blog and that seems worthy of a little celebration. Secondly, I can now count the days on this year's camping season on my fingers! It has been a busy summer out here at the campground and I am anticipating getting home for a rest - I am so looking forward to hot showers, a real bed, good lighting and my comfy stitching chair! Well, gotta love those nice round numbers like 400! It is always a good excuse to celebrate by having a little giveaway. Every year I anticipate the publication of Just CrossStitch's Christmas Ornament issue. I start watching the newsstands about September and worry I won't manage to find a copy before they are sold out. This little obsession of mine probably explains how I managed to buy two copies!
