Notes from the Lake

Here he is - the Great American Pelican. I have given up on getting a better picture than this - just can`t get close enough! I would still like to get a photo of one in the air though - there they are so majestic with their huge wingspan. I look forward to seeing the pelicans every year when I come back to the lake. They really are such gorgeous birds!

I enjoy your notes from the lake as much as your CQ entries! Keep 'em coming; they can be my virtual vacation for the summer.

Are you really going to be able to come to Colorado in September? That would be great!

Hi Kerry... thanks for visiting my blog, it was nice to hear from you again.... I live at the lake and for the first time last year we had pelicans on the lake... it was lovely to see sooooo many of them. In November, however, I was called upon to look after one of these lovely creatures for a few days until we could get it to another care facility... seeing one up close and personal was a rare treat!

The box itself is fairly small, 8 inchs X 6 inchs and 4 inches high (20 cm X 15 cm and 10 cm high).  From my research it is of Asian origin. Inside the sewing box is lined with hand-painted silk.  The inside of the lid features a neat little needlebook. Giveaway!

I am feeling like celebrating for various reasons! Firstly, this is my 100th post on my blog and that seems worthy of a little celebration. Secondly, I can now count the days on this year's camping season on my fingers! It has been a busy summer out here at the campground and I am anticipating getting home for a rest - I am so looking forward to hot showers, a real bed, good lighting and my comfy stitching chair! 400 Post Giveaway

Well, gotta love those nice round numbers like 400! It is always a good excuse to celebrate by having a little giveaway. Every year I anticipate the publication of Just CrossStitch's Christmas Ornament issue. I start watching the newsstands about September and worry I won't manage to find a copy before they are sold out. This little obsession of mine probably explains how I managed to buy two copies!
