BAS - Week 55 - Buttonhole Eyelet Flower

I saw this buttonhole eyelet flower on one of the round robin blocks at CQI and instantly fell in love with it!  So, I have chosen it for this week's BAS challenge - I hope you have as much fun with it as I did.

The base of the Buttonhole Eyelet flower is simply a buttonhole wheel, as you can see in the first two partial flowers above.   You can find a video tutorial on Mary Corbet's Needle 'n Thread for the buttonhole wheel.  After you have made the wheel you make a series of bullion knots around the circumference of the wheel.  (Mary also has a video tutorial for bullion knots  if you need one.)

These were my first attempt at Buttonhole Eyelet Flower and I did them in #5 Perle Cotton.  If you would like to see a much nicer example check out Sharon B's Pintangle blog where she featured this stitch as Week 6 of her 2010 TAST.  Her flowers have much nicer petals than on my attempt above.

Have fun and please share some photos of what you do!
