I saw this buttonhole eyelet flower on one of the round robin blocks at CQI and instantly fell in love with it! So, I have chosen it for this week's BAS challenge - I hope you have as much fun with it as I did.
The base of the Buttonhole Eyelet flower is simply a buttonhole wheel, as you can see in the first two partial flowers above. You can find a video tutorial on Mary Corbet's Needle 'n Thread for the buttonhole wheel. After you have made the wheel you make a series of bullion knots around the circumference of the wheel. (Mary also has a video tutorial for bullion knots if you need one.)
These were my first attempt at Buttonhole Eyelet Flower and I did them in #5 Perle Cotton. If you would like to see a much nicer example check out Sharon B's Pintangle blog where she featured this stitch as Week 6 of her 2010 TAST. Her flowers have much nicer petals than on my attempt above.
