2011 Tree Hunt

Now, I ask you, how Canadian is this photo?  lol  Here we are heading off to the Kananaskis to look for a tree - through a snowstorm and with a box of Tim Horton's Timbits on the dash of the truck!
We found the perfect spot and all climbed out.
My job is to get the fire going...
and the meal ready for when everyone gets back from trudging through the snowy forest finding "the perfect tree".
Even the snack after the tree hunt is a big family tradition - hot dogs over the fire, chili and hot chocolate.

Here is my dh, Gary, and dd, Katie - the intrepid tree hunters!

It would be easier to stop at the tree lot but how can you put a price on a smile like this?!

I had to go get another sweater while reading this post! I had never heard of Kananaskis and had to google it. Still not sure how to pronounce it! But you guys sure looked like you enjoyed the adventure!

What a nice tradition! Hot chocolate over an open fire is the best! Were there marshmallows?

I remember one year when I decided to go out and find a tree to cut. Never happened. They were so scraggley. I don't live in an urban area, but its not wilderness either. I'd love to see a pic of yours all dressed out. Anyway, its a great family tradition. Part of what makes Christmas so special.

Giveaway!

I am feeling like celebrating for various reasons! Firstly, this is my 100th post on my blog and that seems worthy of a little celebration. Secondly, I can now count the days on this year's camping season on my fingers! It has been a busy summer out here at the campground and I am anticipating getting home for a rest - I am so looking forward to hot showers, a real bed, good lighting and my comfy stitching chair! 400 Post Giveaway

Well, gotta love those nice round numbers like 400! It is always a good excuse to celebrate by having a little giveaway.
