Spider Web Quilt - Row X Row

I'm taking part in a Row X Row Robin on the Mailblocks quilting group - trying to get a little experience with "sane" quilting and building up my confidence with it. This is the first Row to come my way to be worked on. Bridgett chose the Spiderweb block for her quilt, providing the sheets for paper piecing it as well as the main blue colour fabric. Above you can see a sample of one of the 12" blocks I made for my row.

Here is the quilt top with my row added to the original one by Bridgett. These blocks were a hoot to do! I loved using all the bits and pieces of scraps of various quilting cottons I have around. It is a true scrap quilt - completely random - and I loved working on it. I think I will have to make one of these myself one of these days!

I really like the idea of using all the bits and pieces in the drawers. Thank you for refresing my mind with this pattern. I have seen it before ofcourse but it is so easy to forget those things when one is busy with 100 other items :))

And, your stitching is absolutely gorgeous!! (In your other posts,) I would love to try my hand at that, I have some crazy quilts that could use some embellishment. Just lovely!!

Giveaway Day! (CLOSED)

This is an antique sewing box - I could not resist it when I saw it for sale! Were you able to guess the item from the sneak peek earlier in the week? The box itself is fairly small, 8 inchs X 6 inchs and 4 inches high (20 cm X 15 cm and 10 cm high). From my research it is of Asian origin. Inside the sewing box is lined with hand-painted silk. The inside of the lid features a neat little needlebook. In the bottom of the sewing box there are more beautiful hand-painted blossoms and an attached pincushion. BAS - Week 79 - Feather Stitch Variations

I have about the next twenty BAS stitches scheduled and by happy coincidence this week's BAS is a series of Feather Stitch variations which coincide with this week's TAST stitch if you are following. So, we can hit two birds with one stone! These hardly look like feather stitch but they are. They are created by making the "v"'s of the feather stitch vertical on the inside. Very simple to do but a different look to an old stitch. The second variation is created by doing two feather stitches at a time on each side, again making sure the inside of your "v"s are vertical and line up as much as possible. Same thing again in this one except they are in series of three. To me these have the look of stitching on old crazy quilts so they are nice to add to your stable of stitch variations.
